Whois Privacy Protection, sometimes also called WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the actual contact details of domain name registrants on WHOIS web sites. Without such protection, the personal name, address and email account of any domain owner will be freely accessible. Providing fake details during the registration process or altering the real details subsequently will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain registrant losing his/her ownership of the domain name. The policies approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), require that the WHOIS information must be correct and up to date at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was introduced by registrars as an answer to the increasing concerns about potential identity theft. If the protection service is active, the registrar company’s contact details will be displayed instead of the domain registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are certain country-code ones that do not.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Web Hosting

If you have ordered a shared web hosting from our company and you’ve registered one or more domain names under your account, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them effortlessly and to keep your personal info secure. Of course, this can be done only with the TLD extensions that support this option. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” button next to each of your domains. Its colour will inform you if a domain is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can activate Whois Privacy Protection with only a couple of mouse clicks. In this way, you can shield your private information even if you haven’t activated the service during the registration procedure. You will be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service with ease. This takes only a couple of clicks of the mouse in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you administer everything connected with your semi-dedicated web hosting account. This is the place where you can see all your registered domain names and for each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, using which you can order, renew or disable the service. Of course, this will be possible only with gTLD and ccTLD extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this beforehand, so you won’t end up requesting a service that we can’t provide.
